THEA 1331: Stage Makeup
Course Description and Objectives: This course introduces students to the materials used in makeup for the stage and to the basic application procedures for a variety of makeup techniques. As a lab-based class, the course provides students with the opportunity to practice and improve their technical makeup application skills so that sufficient knowledge and hands-on experience are developed to solve most common makeup design, application, and effects challenges.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the course, students will have developed and demonstrated an understanding of facial structure, the ability to analyze character and design appropriate makeup, the ability to analyze and apply research, and will have successfully completed the following makeup applications:

Blood and gore makeup

Period makeup(s)

Animal makeup

Fantasy/nonrealistic makeup

Other makeup applications and techniques including brow block, putty, and prosthetic application
